Keynote Session by Mr. Tung Meng Fai
Mr. Tung Meng Fai is the Director Designate (Ecosystem Development) of the National Robotics Programme. He and his team work closely with international and local end-user companies across a range of industries, robotics solution & technology providers, and local institutions to facilitate partnerships and translate public R&D in robotics to market, to create economic and social impact. Prior to his current appointment, Meng Fai was a Director at Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) and held various positions in industry development across sectors such as precision engineering, electronics, marine & offshore and infocomms & media at EDB where he started his career in 2003. He was also posted overseas as Centre Director in EDB’s Texas office.

Clin A/P (Dr) Tan Ngiap Chuan has been a Family Physician cum senior consultant for the past 16 years. He is a Fellow with the College of Family Physicians Singapore and Academy of Medicine who graduated as one of the six pioneer group of clinicians in the Master in Clinical Investigations in NUS. Since his appointment as Director of Research in SHP in 2012, A/P Tan has been coaching medical and nursing undergraduates, Family Medicine Residents and Family Physicians in Family Medicine Research. His research interests focus on preventive health and person-centered care via technology and innovation. A/P Tan is also the recipient of the Humanity Award in 2006 for research relating to SARS, SingHealth Excellence Award for Clinician in 2012. He is the first family physician to receive the NMRC Clinician Innovator Development Award in 2019 to develop a novel internet of thing system to promote smoking cessation. He has published more than 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals and received awards for oral and poster presentations at various WONCA and Family Medicine Conferences.


Dr. Limbu Dilip Kumar

Before founding MooVita, I was a Computer Scientist, Principal Investigator (PI) and former software lead for an Autonomous Vehicle (AV) project at Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). My works primarily focused on architecting AV system and designing the intelligent driving behaviour for the AV. I was also actively involved in various robotics R&D projects as functional lead, where my research focused on human-robot interaction, tele-presence and tele-operation. Of my 13 years stint with A*STAR, I was PI and Co-PI for 8 years, where part of my responsibilities includes writing R&D project proposals, project costing, budget allocation, manpower and project resource planning, and engaging key stakeholders on the progress of the project.


Mr. Leo Joeh

Airbus Urban Air Mobility

Formerly a senior officer in the Republic of Singapore Air Force, Leo joined Airbus in 2009 where he has served as Head of Design, Deputy Vice President for Support Engineering, and Head of Aviation Safety Hub for Asia-Pacific in the helicopters division. In 2017, Leo became the Head of the Skyways programme where he spearheaded efforts on urban air delivery in Singapore. He has since been promoted to Head of UTM Lab under Airbus Urban Air Mobility (UAM) where he leads Airbus’ partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, local mobile operators, and other Singapore governmental agencies to define, develop, and demonstrate safety standards and requirements for safe integration of unmanned aircraft into our urban skies.

As a Deputy Director of Jurong Lake Gardens Development, Chong Ren’s current work scope involves overseeing a team working on the development and project management of Jurong Lake Gardens Central, which includes the redevelopment of Chinese and Japanese Gardens. He is also involved in the development of a sustainability and technology framework for the Gardens, as well as test bedding and implementing new technology that can bring benefits to parks and greenery management.


Dr. Tan Chee Keat

Ng Teng Fong General Hospital

Dr. Tan Chee Keat is Senior Consultant from Department of Intensive Care Medicine, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. She was the head of the first Department of Intensive Care Medicine in Singapore from April 2012 to March 2020. She led her team to fight the invisible enemy - SARS CoV2 virus in 2020. During this time, the Bioaerosol Containment Unit (BCU) was designed in collaboration with Ngee Ann Polytechnic to prevent dispersion of infective aerosol while patient is receiving aerosol generating procedure.


Mr. Hang Zhi Cheng

Mr. Hang Zhi Cheng is a Technical Communicator & Entrepreneur who connects technology ideologies and concepts to people from various backgrounds. He has the ability to analyse and decipher complex problems and come out with creative and unique hardware/software solutions. Through his software development firm T05 Technologies, he has gained insight and experience working with clients and their products from various industries. Together with his strong technical team, T05 Technologies not only advises clients on key solutions, but is also able to develop and deploy these solutions effectively. Zhi Cheng is also the writer of his own technology website at The Tech Revolutionist. The Tech Revolutionist is a Singapore based technology review site which looks out for the latest trends and products in Asia, providing readers an Asia perspective to Singapore's technology scene. He enjoys writing product reviews and industry analysis articles during his free time.


Mr. Derrick Nguyen Hoang Danh

Mr. Derrick Nguyen is currently working as a Scientist at Plant Science and Health branch, National Parks Board. He received Undergraduate and Post Graduate Scholarship from Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore to pursue Bachelor of Sciences with Major in Plant Sciences and Master of Sciences in Entomology at University of California, Davis, USA from 2015 to 2019. He specializes in Integrated Pest Management and application of advanced technology for early detection of pests and monitoring of plant health. Currently, his current research focuses on application of Hyperspectral Imaging for early detection of common pests and monitoring of nutrient content in leafy vegetables.

Mr.Ben Neo is the Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Thong Siek Food Industry Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Neo Group. Thong Siek is Singapore’s largest fish ball manufacturer, distributor and retailer of surimi-based seafood products in Singapore. Thong Siek owns the popular fish ball brand DoDo. Ben has more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing ranging from electronics, consumer products to food industry. Currently, he is leading operations and digitalization initiatives in Thong Siek.

As a scientist in Environmental Health Institute – NEA, Deng Lu’s main research interests is on mosquito behaviour, surveillance, and control. Currently, he is leading EHI’s Automation section which focuses on providing automation solutions under Project Wolbachia – Singapore. By combining mosquito biology, physics, and engineering. Deng Lu and team has successfully developed a range of innovative solutions to improve productivity and efficiency in large-scale Wolbachia mosquito production and release. This enables NEA to scale up Project Wolbachia - Singapore and deploy this novel vector control technology more quickly, so as to benefit more residents. He is also the co-inventor of 9 intellectual properties in mosquito surveillance technology and Project Wolbachia related technology


Ms. Ratni Suriyani Bte Saib

Ms. Suriyani has been teaching in Hougang Primary (HGP) since 2005. She has been entrusted to head the ICT department since 2010. She firmly believes in having the 4Es - the opportunities to Excite and Engage the students and be encouraged to have the mindset to Experiment and Explore beyond classroom setting. HGP has started computational thinking via coding since 2015 and has embarked in robotics in education in 2018. She holds a degree in Bachelor of Art majoring in Political Science and History from NUS.

About the Robotics Research & Innovation Centre


NP’s Robotics Research and Innovation Centre (RRIC) spearheads cutting-edge applied research in robotics technology in four clusters of expertise: Service Robots, Autonomous Vehicles, Autonomous Underwater/Marine Vessels and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.

The RRIC supports the national innovation agenda in Singapore’s journey towards being a Smart Nation. Anchored in the School of Engineering, the RRIC draws talents from across NP to collaborate with industry, both locally and globally.
